Principal's Message

Welcome to Russell High School with the Upper Canada District School Board.   We are a community minded grade 7-12 school located in Russell, Ontario. We boast a graduation rate that has consistently been over 90% since our first graduating class of 2008. We pride ourselves on our strong academics and dedication to student success. As an RHS student, you will find our staff eager and willing to support you on your unique learning journey with a variety of supportive programs to suit various learning styles.

Student leadership is very important at Russell High School.  With Link Crew, grade 12 students have the opportunity to help transition our grade 9 students to high school. In this program, the leaders have small groups of 8-10 students and they lead social, academic, and athletic activities all year to promote inclusion and belonging.

Students feel a great sense of pride in our school as a member of our T-wolf pack through their involvement in many extra-curricular activities. From varsity sports such as hockey, basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball and badminton to clubs and groups such as Student Council, Improv, Sears Dramafest, Band, Cooking Club, Global Education Team and Pride Alliance. We encourage all students to get involved to make the most of their high school journey.

We are proud of our Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) in Transportation and in Information Technology.  In these programs, students can earn a red seal on their graduation diploma by focusing their high school courses with credits in these areas, coop, and certifications related to the industry.

We are proud to be an International hub school hosting students from around the world.  Our students are exposed at a wide variety of cultures and build new relationships that will last a lifetime.

Our parent community is also involved in our school through School Council and volunteerism in the school. We encourage all parents to get involved. “Study after study has shown us that student achievement improves when parents play an active role in their children's education, and that good schools become even better schools when parents are involved. It is recognized that parent engagement is a key factor in the enhancement of student achievement and well-being. Students are more likely to be motivated, to earn higher grades, to have better behaviour and social skills, and to continue their education to a higher level when their parents are actively engaged in supporting their success at school.” ( www.edu.gov.on.ca )

We invite you to visit us, tour our facilities and allow us to answer any questions you may have. Come join the T-wolf pack!
